Who we are

Riley Ventures LLC, d/b/a Acme Studio (“TLDR,” “we,” “us”) provides the TLDR iOS app, related Safari and Chrome surfaces, and this website (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy describes how we process personal information collected through the Service, marketing pages, and support channels.

TLDR is a personal information filter and attention product. It is not a surveillance tool, news wire, or medical device.

Personal information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the app, the site, and subscriptions. We do not need government IDs or raw payment-card numbers. Apple handles App Store checkout.

• Account and contact data: email, display name, and any message you send to support, press, or legal.
• Interests and configuration you provide: Watchers, topics you share into TLDR, TLDR Mode destinations, briefing preferences, and notification settings.
• Product content you submit: pages or links you share for summarization or follow suggestions, and prompts you send inside the product.
• Usage and session metadata: briefing opens, Mode intercepts, receipt views, feature use, and similar product analytics.
• Device data: iOS or browser version, device type, app or extension version, language, crash logs, and coarse location derived from IP (city/region) if analytics are enabled.
• Transaction data: subscription status, product identifiers, and renewal state via the App Store and any entitlement provider we use (for example RevenueCat). We do not store full payment card numbers.
• Website analytics and cookies: pages viewed, CTA clicks, scroll depth, referrers, device/browser data, IP address, and user agent via Google Analytics (GA4) on this marketing site.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Produce finite briefings, Mode intercepts, Watchers, receipts, and related product features.
• Process subscriptions and restore purchases through Apple.
• Communicate about the Service, security, and (with consent or as allowed) product updates.
• Measure product and site quality, prevent abuse, and debug crashes.
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms.

Summaries and model providers

TLDR may use third-party model and infrastructure providers to generate summaries and briefings from the interests and content you configure or share. Those providers process inputs as needed to deliver the feature. We instruct them not to use your product inputs to train their general models where our contracts allow that restriction.

Do not share secrets, passwords, or highly sensitive personal data in shares or prompts that you would not want processed to produce a briefing.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information with processors who help us operate the Service, including Apple, hosting, email, analytics (Google Analytics), entitlement/billing recognition vendors, and model or summarization providers as needed to deliver features you use.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users, or in a merger or sale of the business, subject to this policy’s commitments.

Retention

We keep account, interest, and briefing-related data for as long as your account is active, then for a limited period needed for backups, disputes, and legal obligations. You may request deletion as described below.

Your rights (U.S. state privacy notices)

Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other comprehensive-privacy states), you may have the right to know, access, correct, delete, or port personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain profiling.

To exercise rights, email legal@tldr.cool from the address on your account. We will verify your request and will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. You may submit a request through an authorized agent by emailing us. If we deny a request, email us again to appeal.

We do not currently have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

This marketing site uses Google Analytics. You can limit some analytics via browser settings, OS privacy controls, and Google’s tools. We do not currently run a Meta Pixel on tldr.cool.

Children and minors

The Service is built for adults. You must be at least 18 to use TLDR. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and transfers

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No method of transmission is perfectly secure. If we store or process data outside your country, we will use appropriate transfer mechanisms.

Updates and contact
